Course Goal / Objective

In this course, the following topics are covered: the concepts of knowledge, science, and scientific research; how to conduct scientific research; the main sources of the field of Turkish Language and Literature; how to make effective use of libraries; how to prepare a research paper; how to cite sources; the fundamental works of the Turkish language; selected examples from key and authoritative sources in Turkish; and, in general, the types of resources used in Turkish language studies, such as dictionaries, grammar books, linguistic studies, bibliographies, catalogs, encyclopedias, internet resources, search engines, conference proceedings, and festschrift volumes.

Course Content

This course aims to explain the nature of scientific thinking and methodology, to teach how to conduct research in the field of Turkish Language and Literature and how to prepare a scientific research paper, and to introduce students to the major sources of the Turkish language.
