Course Goal / Objective

This lecture aims to specialize in the methods of committing crimes in the field of cyber space (modus operandi), the types, elements, and characteristics of cybercrimes, as well as the investigation and prosecution methods involved in the trial of these crimes. It also focuses on new methods and tools of crime linked to technological advancements (such as deepfake, artificial intelligence, etc.). The lecture aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to analyze legislation, judicial decisions, and current practices in light of the general principles of cyber crime law, enabling them to assess discussions on these topics and propose solutions.

Course Content

The lecture covers the general principles of cyber crime law, the concepts of cybercrime, computer crime, internet crime, the ways in which cybercrimes are committed, the cybercrimes defined in the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), the elements and specific forms of these crimes, criminal procedural protective measures for information systems, forensic computing, the characteristics of measures such as content removal and/or access blocking under Law No. 5651, and new areas and methods of criminal liability arising from technological advancements (such as deepfake, artificial intelligence, etc.). These topics are addressed within the framework of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), Criminal Procedure Code (CMK), Law No. 5651, relevant legislation, and judicial decisions."

LO08 Analyzes the link between crime and criminal behavior and the methods of combating them in relation to next-generation techniques emerging from technological developments (such as deepfakes, artificial intelligence, etc.)
