Course Goal / Objective

Identifying, evaluating, and managing clusters of symptoms that occur together in surgical patients; and planning holistic nursing care that considers the interactions between symptoms.

Course Content

The concept of symptoms and symptom clusters, theoretical foundations, pain, fatigue, nausea and vomiting, sleep disturbances, anxiety, dyspnea, gastrointestinal symptoms, wound-related symptoms, functional losses in surgical patients, symptom assessment tools, evidence-based interventions in symptom clusters, and monitoring of care outcomes.
