Course Goal / Objective

To provide fundamental engineering knowledge of the main components of refrigeration systems, and to enable students to recognize, design, and formulate basic refrigeration systems, while acquiring the essential theoretical background required to design vapor-compression refrigeration systems.

Course Content

Introduction to refrigeration technologies. Refrigerants. Components of refrigeration systems. Absorption refrigeration systems. Vapor-compression refrigeration systems. Analysis of vapor-compression refrigeration cycles. Calculation of the coefficient of performance (COP). Performance enhancement methods in vapor-compression refrigeration cycles. Defrost methods.
