Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to enable students to recognize the basic laboratory and field practices used in field crop production, distinguish major field crop groups in terms of their morphological and agronomic characteristics, and evaluate the production process through practical applications. Within the scope of the course, students gain practical skills by examining seeds, seedlings, plant organs, growth stages, yield components and quality criteria of cereals, forage crops, grain legumes, medicinal and aromatic plants, energy crops, oil crops and fiber crops. The course also aims to develop basic professional competencies in farm location selection, production planning, determination of appropriate agricultural techniques, crop rotation practices, storage techniques, computer-based monitoring of production and establishment of marketing standards for harvested products.
Course Content
Within the scope of this course, students recognize and apply the basic practical procedures used in field crop production through laboratory and field studies. The course covers the morphological characteristics of cereals, forage crops, grain legumes, medicinal and aromatic plants, energy crops, oil crops and fiber crops; identification criteria for seeds and plant materials; sowing and planting methods; crop maintenance practices; growth and development stages; harvest maturity; and evaluation of yield components.
