Course Goal / Objective
The aim is to develop students’ curiosity about numbers and their mathematical thinking skills by demonstrating that numbers are not merely symbols used in mathematical operations, but also play diverse roles in history, nature, science, art, technology, and everyday life.
Course Content
The emergence and historical development of the concept of numbers, the discovery of zero, prime numbers, the Fibonacci sequence, the golden ratio and π, the concept of infinity, the birthday problem and the Monty Hall problem, codes and ciphers, the cultural mysteries of numbers, and the future of numbers.
