Course Goal / Objective
This course aims to teach the biological, ecological, economic and cultural importance of plants in human life; explain the interactions between plants and humans; provide an understanding of the effects of plants on nutrition, health, and the environment; introduce the role of plants in sustainable living and biodiversity conservation; and develop students' environmental awareness and appreciation of nature.
Course Content
Origin and evolution of plants; historical development of plant–human interactions; the importance of plants in nutrition, health, and daily life; medicinal and aromatic plants; food and industrial crops; ornamental plants; poisonous plants; ecosystem services provided by plants; biodiversity; the significance of plants in relation to climate change and sustainability; the role of plants in urban environments; the cultural and economic value of plants; and fundamental topics related to the conservation of plant resources.
