General Information

The Department of Agricultural Machinery was founded in 1970. In the following years, though it was called Agriculture Mechanization Department, the name Agriculture machinery has been used since 1984. The basic aims of the department are to educate Professional engineers in the field of Agricultural Mechanization and to design new prototype machines, to improve effectiveness of the agricultural machinery, to create and extend new ideas on designing manufacturing, selecting of agricultural machines and its safe operation. In addition, ensure more effective use of agriculture machinery, design and present samples of machinery not found in our country to manufacturers and producers. For this purpose, our department's expertise areas are agricultural electrification, natural energy sources, greenhouse technique, agriculture tractors, ergonomy, soil process mechanization, harvest, plantation fertilizing mechanization, agricultural war mechanization, agriculture machinery administration and planning, mechanization in animal production.

Having a flexible knowledge base that can adapt to new or interdisciplinary technologies, with expertise gained at the undergraduate level, supporting original ideas and using scientific research methods, solving complex engineering problems and following, reviewing and implementing innovations in Agricultural Mechanism.

Goals

The purpose of this program is to train and eduquate the agricultural engineer with highly ethical values, which can specialize in agricultural machinery and technology engineering,who can work in the public and private sector, have knowledge of country conditions and vegetable and animal production, have international working ability, equipped with technical knowledge, have theoretical and practical knowledge and skills, team work is prone to work and sustainability in production has adopted the principle of Agricultural Engineer training.

Objectives

Developing smart machinery / automation systems for optimal use of agricultural inputs, developing appropriate energy sources for such works, designing, choosing and marketing machines, teaching correct machine usage, for agricultural production and making all kinds of jobs that can not be done with human power.

Specific Admission Requirements

Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

Qualification Awarded

The students who have successfully accomplished this program gain degree of Agricultural Engineering.

Access to Further Studies

The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to obtain a MsD degree in their or related fields if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the "Regulations of Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee", which includes a required ALES score and an adequate English language proficiency.

Applied workplace training is given in the 8th semester of the program.

Double Major, Additional Major & Exchange Possibilities

The Faculty of Agriculture has the possibility of double major and minor education in the fields of Plant Protection, Field Crops, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Agricultural Economics. There is also an opportunity to study in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering.
