Course Goal / Objective

To inform on table, raisin, wine and juice grape production, and place and importance of viticulture in agriculture of Turkey and the world, to teach the morphology of the vine, and some basic subjects related to viticulture such as propagation, pruning, training.

Course Content

History of viticulture in Turkey and in the world, The geographical distribution of the vine, Turkey viticulture area and grape production by region, Nutritional value of grapes and its importance in terms of human health, Commercial classification of grapes, The root and shoot system of the vines, Winter and summer pruning of vines, Irrigation and fertilization in vineyards, Climate and soil factors affecting the grape growing.
