Course Goal / Objective
Its aimed at informing the students about the role and importance of media on children and their families lives. Its also focused on the analysis of the relationship between media culture and childrens development. The students will examine the digital media tools their relations with children and the reflections of such relations on family and school. The current theories will be taught in relation with relevant research findings. The students will be informed about the development of childrens literature in Turkey and in the world; the importance of introducing eligible books to children at early ages and the functions of childrens literature works on individuals having reading habit. In this course, its essentially aimed at introducing childrens literature Works suitable for especially 0-6 ages.
Course Content
This course include these themes the presentation of childrens literature Works for 0-6 ages; the essential interests of 0-6 aged children and the importance of books on providing them with the necessary psychological needs; the contemporary methods in childrens literature and the media theories on the relationship between children and digital media tools e.g. cartoons, ads, computer games, websites etc media and violence; media and bullying; media and childrens rights; the effect of media on childrens development; media and child obesity; the role of family and school on accessing to digital media.
