Course Goal / Objective

To provide the students with a theoretical background and analytical thinking ability to discuss the economic and socio-cultural characteristics of rural areas, the causes of underdevelopment and opportunities for elimination, alternative solutions.

Course Content

The problem of underdevelopment; Economic growth and development concepts; Traditional growth and development theories; The measurement of development and the main features of underdeveloped countries; Rural area and its features; Definition, importance, purpose, principle and elements of rural development; The role of agriculture in rural development, Rural development policies, Globalization and rural development
