Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is explanation the concept of literature, comprehension characteristic features of literary genres, comprehension narrative and poetry genres, adoption to modern genres occuring after the Tanzimat period.

Course Content

The content of this course is definition of literature, concept of literature in Western and Turkish language; meanings of literature, literary work, content and language in literary work, language and form in literary work, function of literature, literature and society; relations between author, literary work and reader, iiterary theory, literary history, concepts of literary criticism, concept of literary genre; basic criterions for differentiation between literary genres,general characteristics of narrative form and novel, emergence of novel genre and its reasons; novel genre in western history
