Course Goal / Objective

To provide the students with a theoretical background and analytical thinking ability to discuss the economic and socio-cultural characteristics of rural areas, the causes of underdevelopment and opportunities for elimination, alternative solutions.

Course Content

Underdevelopment problem; Economic growth and development concepts; Traditional theories of growth and development; Measurement of development and main characteristics of underdeveloped countries; Rural area and features; Definition of rural development and its importance, principles, aims and elements; The role of agriculture in rural development; Rural development policies; Globalization and rural development
