Course Goal / Objective

To gain skill in modelling an economic problem within the parameters of econometrics; to teach the ways to estimate and test the parameters of the model; to gain skill in testing research hypothesis testing via econometrics.

Course Content

Description and context of econometrics; econometric research method; determining model of economic problem, model estimation, testing coefficients, evaluating predictive power of the model, desired properties of an econometric model; linear correlation; basic linear regression model; Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method, statistical testing for significance of estimates, multiple regression model, other extensions of linear regression model (dummy variables, estimating non-linear relations); deviations from classical regression model (multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, autocorrelation); simultaneous equations models
