Course Goal / Objective

Resasons of disease and weed epidemics, factors effecting these epidemics, preventation methods against disease and weed epidemics are the objective of the course.

Course Content

Pathogenic populations of the disease, environmental factors and host population associations will be described in the occurrence of infectious outbreak plant diseases (fungus, bacteria, virus, viroid etc.). The basic principles of early warning systems for epidemic diseases will be addressed. The epidemic diseases will be assessed according to time and place of infection. Disease and crop loss calculations, Agro-ecosystem concepts and their relation to disease will be evaluated. Changes in populations of weed species due to biotic and abiotic factors over time, unique and exotic weed species and their epidemics in the agro-ecosystem.
