Course Goal / Objective

Understands the basic terms related to sociology and It is the comprehension of the relationship between sociology, theories and other disciplines.

Course Content

Sociological concept, theoretical basis , history of sociology, social institutions, social and social relations, relationship between sociology and other social sciences, culture, gender and media relations.

LO01 learns the definition of sociology, its relation to other disciplines, its place in social sciences and the historical process of sociology.
LO02 comprehends basic concepts of sociology, important theories and research methods in sociology
LO03 establishes the relationship between culture, mass, society and individual, and learns the types of society with different perspectives and examples
LO04 gains knowledge about social interaction and everyday life and learns about social dialogue, interaction and communication theories and concepts of action.
LO05 obtains important knowledge regarding the theories of gender and feminism, familyand family types, stratification, class structure within the framework of different theories.
LO06 gains information about globalization and social movements as wellas critical sociology, postmodern and poststructural theories.
