Course Goal / Objective

To comprehend the concepts of thinking, critical thinking and critical reading, classifying thinking skills, understanding the dimensions of critical thinking and critical thinking instruction, to grasp critical thinking instruction, the need for critical reading and the importance of critical reading, to comprehend the sub-skills of critical reading, the qualities of critical reader and the obstacles of critical reading and the critical reading criteria, to comprehend the relationship between critical reading and Turkish course curriculum and critical reading self-efficacy.

Course Content

Definition of thinking and the need for thinking, basic and complex thinking skills, classroom environment that supports thinking, teacher characteristics and student behavior, dimensions and teaching of critical thinking, critical reading requirement and importance, sub-skills of critical reading, critical reader's qualifications and obstacles to critical reading, critical reading criteria, the relationship between critical reading and Turkish course curriculum, critical reading self-efficacy.
