Course Goal / Objective

The practices frequently used by nurses in pediatric intensive care units are of great importance as they affect the duration of intensive care and the quality of care. In this way, it will contribute to nursing interventions (oral care, urethral catheter care, central-peripheral catheter care and ventilator follow-up) and holistic patient follow-up, which are frequently implemented in pediatric intensive care units.

Course Content

The importance of pediatric intensive care medicine is being more generally accepted in our country as services become more widely available. Indeed, important developments occurred in this field in recent years. Pediatric intensive care is defined as all of the methods applied to partially or completely lost organ or system functions until the causes of negative effects are eliminated, to treat these causes that cause the disease, and to ensure the survival of the patient. Evidence is growing that treating critically ill children in centers with large, well-equipped pediatric intensive care units has positive effects on mortality. Therefore, pediatric intensive care is thought to play an important role in keeping child mortality low. Nurses providing effective service in this field; In the world and Turkey pediatric intensive care and pediatric intensive care concept, pediatric intensive care unit design and unit characteristics, children forward in law support, children airway and tracheal intubation, invasive / non-invasive monitoring of patient follow-up, children applied nursing interventions in intensive care unit (enteral and parenteral nutrition, blood monitoring, drug applications ... etc.) will provide holistic patient care thanks to the training it will receive
