Course Goal

To teach technical details and requirements for technical and geological drawings. To gain the ability to deal with technical and geological drawings. To teach the symbols and signs used for geological maps and cross sections. To provide students thinking ability on three dimension. To prepare scaled three dimensional diagrams and figures by using two dimensional drawings objects. To gain ability to evaluate a geological history from the prepared geological maps and cross sections.

Course Content

Introduction, methods, lines, views (front, side, top) of various shapes, how to draw a block diagram, application of geology on block diagrams. General description and classification of maps, topographical data and sections. Direction, scale, positional definition, section proceeding. Preparation of topographical and geological block diagrams. Classification of geological maps. Rocks structures and their symbolic appearances on maps, geological maps patterns. Geometrical information related with planar structures. Reading and interpreting the geological maps, interpreting and determination of geological structures. Determinate the intersections of geological and topographical surfaces, scaled and non scaled cross sections, sketch and panoramic drawings.
