Course Goal / Objective

With this course, it is aimed to provide the students with the competencies related to the basic physical concepts required for air conditioning and refrigeration applications.

Course Content

Basic physical and chemical concepts, Unit systems Hidden and sensible heat, temperature and temperature measurement Pressure and pressure measurement, gas and gas laws, Work, power, energy, Types of heat transfer and heat transfer: Conduction, convection and radiation, Basic fluid properties, types of flow continuity and energy equation, Channel and pipe flow, The definition of refrigeration, cooling types, basic mechanical compression refrigeration cycle and its applications, and examples PH diagram showing the cooling cycles, Definition of air conditioning, types and applications, examples, Psychrometric Diagram.
