Course Goal / Objective

Gains knowledge about the history and geographical distribution of viticulture, its place in horticultural agriculture. Defines the vine and discusses the main issues related to vine cultivation.

Course Content

Explains the history and geographical distribution of viticulture, the countries where viticulture is carried out in the world, the place and importance of viticulture in agricultural activities, grape production and trade. Defines vine systematics, vine types and distribution areas. It gives examples of the relationships between the annual cycle of the vine and the growth and development events of the vine and environmental factors.
