Course Goal

To teach how to apply the basic equations of flow in pipes and open channels

Course Content

Real fluid flow, Laminar and turbulent flows, Boundary layer flow, Forces on submerged bodies, Steady flow in pipes, Energy losses in pipe flow, Pipelines containing pump and turbine, Hydraulic analysis of pipe networks, Unsteady flows in pipe, Analysis of surge chamber and water hammer, Steady open channel flow, Uniform flow, Best hydraulic section, Specific energy, Critical depth, Specific force, Analysis of hydraulic jump, Gradually varied flows, Dimensional analysis and hydraulic similarity.
