Course Goal / Objective

It is aimed that students will be able to install, maintain and parameterize various electric motors and motor drivers used in industrial applications and daily life.

Course Content

Parts and working principles of electric motors, Structure and Operation of DC Motors, characteristics of direct current motors, speed regulation in direct current motors, parts and working principle of three-phase asynchronous motor, three-phase asynchronous motor starting methods, three-phase asynchronous motor characteristics, three-phase asynchronous motor speed regulation methods in motors, structures and types of single-phase asynchronous motors, types and working principles of single-phase asynchronous motors, servo motors, step motors.

LO10 Explain the basic properties of power electronics switching elements used in the power stage of motor drivers.
LO11 It describes the components of a typical motor driver, the open loop control system, the closed loop (feedback) control system, and what controls can be made on an electric motor.
LO12 Explains basic information about starting, braking, changing direction of rotation, speed control, torque control and motor selection criteria suitable for application in alternating current motors.
LO13 Explains basic information about starting, braking, changing direction of rotation, speed control, torque control and motor selection criteria suitable for application in DC motors.
LO14 Explain the basic principles, structures, types, characteristics and usage areas of stepper motors.
LO15 Explains stepper motor driver circuit structures.
LO16 Explains the basic features of other specially designed motors such as brushless direct current motor, permanent magnet synchronous motor, high speed alternating current motor.
LO17 It decides which motor driver will use which type of motor used in the industry and makes parameter settings of motor drivers by looking at their catalogs.
