Course Goal

The aim of the course is to make the student teachers aware of the historical development of mathematics and the place of the history of mathematics in mathematics education, to have an idea about mathematics in different cultures and geographies and to be aware of how mathematical concepts are structured in the historical process.

Course Content

The course includes the history of mathematics in mathematics education and the historical development of mathematical and mathematical concepts in different cultures and geographies (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greek, Indian, Islamic world, Western world).
