Course Goal / Objective
Explain the Algal metabolites. Explain the algae species culturing. Describes the chemical composition, protein contents, amino-acid composition, lipid contents, fatty acids composition, dry and ash free dry weight. Explain the vitamins, pigments, biochemicals of cell wall and the other metabolites.
Course Content
Metabolites obtained from microalgae, nutritional products of macroalgae, macro and micro algae species cultured to benefit from their products, protein, carbohydrate, lipid, pigment, mineral and vitamin contents of algae, alginates, brown algae (Phaeophyceae), alginate production, sodium and calcium alginates, use of alginates as biomaterials.
