Course Goal / Objective

To provide students with information about convulsion and depression models and to gain experimental skills.

Course Content

Experimental behavioral models, introduction, overview of convulsion models, tonic, atonic, myoclonic and clonic convulsions, abdominal contraction test, Experimental depression studies and overview of depression models, Learned Helplessness Model, Chronic Mild Stress Model, Early Life Stress Model, Social Stress Model , Olfactory Bulbectomy Model, Pharmacological models, Genetic models, Behavioral tests used in depression research: forced swim test, open field test, genetic models, reward-related and anhedonic behavior tests, active avoidance test, passive avoidance test
