Course Goal / Objective

To teach the smooth muscle functions, the types of ion channels that play a role and their working mechanisms, to give information about the ion channel studies in pharmacological methods used in the evaluation of smooth muscle functions.

Course Content

General structure of smooth muscle cells, membrane structure and properties of smooth muscle cells, ion channels and types in smooth muscle cells, sodium channels, potassium channels, calcium channels, chloride channels, stimulation and action potential of smooth muscle cells, techniques used in ion channels research, voltage Clamp technique, patch clamp technique, diseases caused by dysfunctions in ion channels
