Course Goal / Objective

The aim of the course is to teach pharmacodynamics, which deals with what drugs do to the body.

Course Content

Dose (concentration) relationship, Quantitative Investigation of the relationship between dose (concentration) and effect, Mechanisms of action of drugs, Receptors and drug-receptor relationship, G protein-coupled receptors, Ligand binding properties and selectivity of receptors, Receptor theory and agonism, Factors that modify the effect of drugs, Pharmacodynamic interactions between drugs, Pharmacokinetic interactions between drugs, Toxic effects of drugs - Plain toxic effects, Toxic effects of drugs - Special toxic effects, Drug allergy, Intolerance or hypersensitivity reactions
