Course Goal / Objective
Define the basic concepts of geriatric nursing, emerging issues related to aging and understand the role of the nurse in the solution of this problem, the community needs of the health care services to the elderly, planning on the basis of universal and scientific facts, using the submission and systematic nursing process approach for the development to acquire knowledge and skills.

Definition of Geriatrics, Elderly Population in the World and in our Country, Theories of Aging, Approach to Elderly Patients, Physiological and Psychosocial Changes in the Elderly, Nutrition and Fluid Balance in Geriatric Patients, Communication with Geriatric Patients, Geriatric Diseases, Prevention of Home Accidents and Falls, Drug Use in Geriatric Patients, Elderly Abuse, Clinical and home care for the elderly
