Course Goal

To provide basic education on fluid mechanics which is one of the basic engineering subjects and to show how basic principles and methods of fluid mechanics are applied on chemical engineering problems and applications

Course Content

Introduction to Fluid Mechanics, Properties of fluids, Dimensional analysis, Fluid statics, Fluid flow phenomena in one, two and three dimensions, Basic equations of fluid flow, Flow similarity, Laminar flow, Momentum balances, Navier Stokes Equation, Bernoulli Equation, Boundary layers, Mechanical energy equation, Friction, Pumps, Flow past immersed bodies, Packed beds, Measurement techniques, Flow through branched pipes

Course Precondition

Physics, Calculus I & II or Matehematics for Engineers I&II
