Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the fundamentals of training science and to gain effective training methods to improve the performance of athletes. The course aims to teach periodization in training planning, load and rest balance, training types such as strength, endurance and speed. It also focuses on functional training such as flexibility, mobility and core stabilization as well as sports nutrition and recovery techniques to help students understand the physical and mental recovery process. It aims to be able to track training with technology and data analytics, prepare age- and branch-specific training programs and follow current training trends.

Course Content

This course deals with the fundamentals of training science and methods to improve the performance of athletes. The course teaches the balance of periodization, loading and rest in training planning, types of training such as strength, endurance and speed. It also focuses on functional training such as flexibility, mobility and core stabilization and sports nutrition. Mental training, psychological preparation, regeneration and recovery techniques are also covered to ensure physical and mental recovery of athletes. Training tracking is taught with technology and data analytics. Age and branch specific training programs and current training trends are also discussed.
