Course Goal / Objective
To reveal the economic, social, cultural and ecological characteristics that determine the concept of tourism as a field of use with significant changing effects on the environment, to comprehend the tools and methods to establish the continuity of resources on this basis with the help of qualitative and quantitative indicators.
Course Content
Definition of leisure time, receration and tourism concepts. Development trends of tourism as a sector and its impacts on environmental resources.Natural and social background that affects tourism development.Sustainability, sustainable development and turism. Reasons for adopting sustainable tourism approach.Outcomes of sustainable tourism applications.Carrying capacity in tourism.Tourism planning for protecting cultural and natural resources.Integration of environmental and societal issues into tourism planning. Ecotourism, theoretical background, applications, economic impact of ecotourism. Methods for monitoring tourism and recreational resource.
