Course Goal / Objective

It is aimed for students to have knowledge about intercultural learning, to develop sensitivity towards cultural differences, and to gain an intercultural perspective.

Course Content

In this course, students will learn about intercultural communication theories, the differences encountered in communication behaviors, and how to benefit from the theories to cope with the problems caused by these differences. In this context, the nature of signs, linguistic relativity and the connection between language and thought, multilingualism, differences between linguistic and communication competence, the role of language, power, racial, ethnic, class and gender differences in communication, non-verbal communication will be discussed.
