Course Goal / Objective

To enable students to recognize, correctly place, and compare word and sentence stress in English; to identify and explain sound phenomena observed in English; and to use connected speech forms accurately and clearly in pronunciation. To improve their levels of English pronunciation and listening skills.

Course Content

Vowels and consonants, sounds in English Similarities and differences in sounds between Turkish and English Word stress and intonation differences between Turkish and English Sentence stress and intonation differences between Turkish and English Contents, characteristics, and commonly used expressions in academic language speeches Contents, characteristics, and commonly used expressions in everyday language speeches International Phonetic Alphabet
