Course Goal / Objective
The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge related to metals, natural stones, glass, ceramics, binding materials, concrete, polymers, and wood materials, specifically in the context of building materials and components.
Course Content
The content of the course, in the context of the importance of the relationship between structure, materials, and design in architecture, includes the introduction of the fundamental properties of building materials, the explanation of the mechanical, physical, and technological properties of building materials, and the introduction of traditional and contemporary building materials such as Metal, Natural Stone, Fired Clay (Ceramic), Glass, Polymers: Wood and Plastic, Concrete, and Binders. The fundamental differences between materials, classified based on material science principles, are emphasized, and their areas of use are explained.
