Course Goal / Objective

To teach nutrient content of forages or roughages and by-products and how to make succesfull ruminant production in extrem climatic conditions.

Course Content

What is sustainable animal production? Global Human Population and Animal Production, Ruminant Livestock and Sustainability, Animals and Forage, Better Pastures & Extended Grazing Season, Co-products, biofuel co-products.

Course Precondition

Students should take general animal nutrition and ruminant nutrition courses before register the lesson or talk the instructor.

Resources

Course Learning Outcomes

Order Course Learning Outcomes
LO01 The aim of this course is to provide the students with an overview of forage and co-products or by-products using in ruminant diet for sustainability. The students will know changes in nutrient content of feeds and how to make succesfull ruminant production in extrem climatic conditions.
LO02 Students should be able to explain the rumen environment, physiology and metabolic pathways
LO03 Students should be able to explain the different systems of energy and protein systems
LO04 Students should be able to explain environmental impact of ruminant production and sustainable ruminant feeding
