Course Goal / Objective

To analyze the place and influence of political powers in the emergence and formation of sects. To be able to see the reflections of the sect-power relationship on religious-social life.

Course Content

The reasons for the emergence of sects; Religion-sect relationship; Religion-politics relationship; The Qur'an's approach to political issues; Tribal mentality and its manifestations in the history of Islamic thought; Arab-Mawali relationship and its place in Islamic history; The issue of the Quraysh of the Caliphate; States of sectarian origin that emerged throughout history; The influence of power in shaping the views of sects; Reflections of the power-sect relationship in social, political, cultural and economic fields.
