Course Goal / Objective

The objective of "Basic Ceramic Art 1" is to not only instill foundational skills in ceramic arts but also to inspire creativity and innovation. By the culmination of the course, students will be adept at hand-building techniques and will apply these skills innovatively to create a unique and unusual teapot. This final project will be a reflection of each student’s artistic expression, technical skills, and imaginative design thinking, pushing the boundaries of traditional ceramic arts.

Course Content

This course aims to impart a foundational understanding of ceramic arts, emphasizing creativity and innovation. Students will explore hand-building techniques including pinching, coiling, and slab building, with special attention to texture and surface design. While mastering the basics, students will be encouraged to think outside the box, especially when creating their final project - an imaginative, unique, and unconventional teapot.
