Course Goal / Objective
To enable pre-service teachers to effectively use information technologies both in their field and in daily life
Course Content
The content of this course covers the concepts of information technology and computational thinking as well as problem solving approaches. The course will focus on algorithms and flowcharts, basic components of computer systems, software and hardware concepts. The basics of operating systems and current operating systems will be introduced; file management, utilities (third party software) and various application software will be examined. The course content also includes word processing, calculation, spreadsheet and graphics programs, presentation programs and desktop publishing. Topics such as database management systems, web design, internet use in education, communication and collaboration technologies will be covered and information about safe internet use, information ethics and copyrights will be given. The effects of computers and the Internet on children and young people are also among the topics of the course.
