Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to explain their social structures, economies, customs, traditions and belief systems, based on evidence from studies focusing on the graves of communities that lived in prehistoric periods.

Course Content

In this course, the general and different behavioral styles of people around death long before the invention of writing, the prehistoric origins of today's traditions, thus their social and cultural structures, and their connections with neighboring regions are discussed.

LO07 Interprets the structure of society from the goods found in graves.
LO08 Assesses Anatolian burial traditions in prehistoric periods.
LO09 Understands the kinds of behavior vis-a-vis death in past societies in the lands surrounding Anatolia.
LO10 Interprets, in terms of interactions and differences, burial practices particularly in prehistory in the context of Anatolia and neigboring societies.
