Course Goal / Objective

Outlining and explaining the basic terminology related to folklore, learning the folklore perspective and analysis methods, learning the main lines of myth, legend, fairy tale, epic and folk story from the Turkish folk literature genres and examining text samples from the Turkish World.

Course Content

Basic terms related to folklore, general characteristics of myth, legend, tale, epic and folk story types, examples of myths and legends from the Turkish World, Oğuz Kağan Epic, The Book of Dede Korkut and Köroğlu.
