Course Goal / Objective

Learning the tradition and characteristics of painting in Islamic art

Course Content

The Problem of Prohibition of Depiction in Islam, Reflections of the Problem of Prohibition of Depiction in the Art of Painting, The Beginning of Islamic Painting Art and the first Illustrated Manuscripts, The Art of Painting in the Umayyad and Abbasid Periods, The Art of Painting in the Seljuk Period, The Art of Painting in the XIIth and XIVth Centuries, The Art of Painting in the Timurid Period, General Characteristics of Early Islamic Painting.
