Course Goal / Objective

To understand the architectural tradition in the first Islamic states and Turks and to comprehend the architectural tradition of the Ottoman period

Course Content

Concepts related to art, Islam's view of art, factors affecting Islamic art, the birth and development of mosque architecture, architectural features of the first form of the mosque, Umayyad, Abbasid, Seljuk period mosque, madrasah, tomb and caravanserai architecture and features, Introduction to Ottoman History, Early Ottoman Period Architecture, Examination of examples of Early Ottoman Architecture, Examination of Classical Period Ottoman buildings and examples, Examination of Late Period Ottoman Architecture and examples, Examination of Ottoman Palaces and monumental tombstones of the Ottoman period.
