Course Goal / Objective

In this course, it is aimed to evaluate the evolution of semiotics in the historical process, to establish the connection between semiotics and other social science disciplines, to discuss semiotic applications in different fields, to comprehend the differences in the approaches of the theorists who shape semiotics and their analysis methods, to analyze the theories and methods of semiotic theorists, to evaluate, analyze and interpret cultural signs and texts from a critical perspective.

Course Content

The scope of the course, the main concepts of linguistics and semiotics will be handled and relationship between semiotics- communication, types of signs, contemporary theoreticians and theories will be taught.
