Course Goal / Objective
The aim of the course is to make students aware of the problems and consequences of the patriarchal cultural structure in social life by learning the main concepts and approaches to gender, to gain the ability to develop suggestions for the solution of such problems, and to analyze the gendered representations produced in the media from a critical perspective.
Course Content
In the course, the concepts of sex and gender, social division of labor and gender roles, gender stereotypes, feminist approaches, masculinity studies are explained and gender discrimination based on patriarchy is discussed through media contents.
