Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to learn about new and alternative communication technologies and to acquire the ability to produce news in accordance with these environments and for the general benefit of citizens. At the same time, it is aimed to gain the ability to produce news ethically, to look critically and to design news designs according to the common good of the public.

Course Content

Within the scope of the course, what citizen journalism is, the theoretical origins of citizen journalism, its history, its difference with traditional journalism, its relation with the development of new communication technologies will be taught with examples from today. In this context, the principles, history, methods and news design of citizen journalism will be covered.
