Course Goal / Objective

The aim of the course is to make the students learn the conceptual aspects of Immigration and Identity, see the relationship between migration and identities, understand the social consequences of migration with its historical and social dimensions.

Course Content

One of the most important phenomena is the migration that makes human beings closer together and puts them into cultural contacts. Today during the migration and immigration processes, the problem of how and why´other’ occurred is one of the most important social and political problems both in our country and in the world. This course covers the examination of migration and immigration cases with the help of empirical data together with the concepts of culture and identity.

LO09 By analyzing the representation of immigrant identities in the media, one can explain the impact of these representations on marginalization and stereotypes.
LO10 By evaluating the relationship between migration and identity in the context of globalization, predictions can be made about possible future transformations.
