Course Goal / Objective

It is aimed to learn the information about the components that make up the landscape, landscape units, point, linear network, superficial and thematic pattern types and landscape metrics.

Course Content

Landscape components, landscape units, point, linear network, surface and thematic pattern types. The use of remote sensing and GIS in pattern analysis, the use of raster and vector data in analysis, metrics at the piece, class and landscape level. Landscape metrics, (1) composition metrics that are not dependent on spatial location characteristics: proportional abundance, abundance and diversity criteria. size distribution and density, (2) terrestrial configuration metrics: complexity of landscape units, glow area, isolation/proximity, contrast, dispersion, division and connection metrics, structural and functional metrics, interpretation of metrics obtained by pattern analysis, points to consider, and constraints, transferring the results to landscape planning constitute the scope of the course.
