Course Goal / Objective

It is aimed that the student will be able to transfer his/her knowledge to concrete planning studies by understanding the role and effectiveness of SEA on the sustainability of sectoral activities.

Course Content

Definition, principles and application process of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), which provides a holistic approach in the process of formulating policies, plans and programmes in the process of sustainable development. The importance of SEA for sustainable sectoral decisions (energy, agriculture, housing, transport, etc.), sample SEA implementation methods. Relating the planning hierarchy and sectoral planning process in Türkiye with the general stages of SEA. Comparison of planning processes in Türkiye and other countries in terms of applicability of SEA.
