Course Goal / Objective
It is aimed to support the interpretation of the role and effectiveness of SEA on the sustainability of sectoral activities and to support the infrastructure to take an active role in decision-making processes.
Course Content
The relationship between sectors with spatial dimension and sustainable development. Definition, principles and application process of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), which provides a holistic approach in the process of formulating policies, plans and programmes in the process of sustainable development. The importance of SEA for sustainable sectoral decisions (energy, agriculture, housing, transport, etc.), sample SEA implementation methods. Relating the planning hierarchy and sectoral planning process in Türkiye with the general stages of SEA. Comparison of planning processes in Türkiye and other countries in terms of applicability of SEA.
